The Tyler Place

Independent, family owned and managed, The Tyler Place Family Resort is becoming a rare, endangered species among family resorts in today's corporate, condo, franchized "tourism industry." The Tyler Place is anything but an industry! Four generations after our parents, Ed and Judy Tyler set out to create an all-inclusive family resort retreat for their friends, we and our children and grandchildren (16 of us as of last summer) still own and manage The Tyler Place Family Resort.
The Tyler family has certainly multiplied--as have the kids' programs, facilities, sports and activities, cottages and the Inn. But because The Tyler Place Family Resort is both family-owned and family-run, we've been able to keep the independent, one-of-a-kind, uncommercialized atmosphere that makes parents and children feel that this is truly their own unique family vacation tradition as much as it is ours.

"Everything about Tyler Place is wonderful. This family-run camp is like no other. The Tylers make it special - from Ted giving Frank lessons on how to catch the trapeze to Chad laughing his hardy laugh during a game of Celebrities. You guys are the best - thank you for a fabulous week." -F & M, West Newton, MA, Lakeview, 8/11-8/18. 2007

"Event time felt like family to us. Chad does a great job of making you feel at home and relaxed. The staff and other families seem to take Chad's lead unconsciously. No restrictions and rules that make you feel you are at a business. Teens were enjoying themselves as well with the freedom, new friends and activities. Must mention the food is well thought out with super varieties." -T & M, Hamden, CT, Inn #101, 5/26-5/29. 2006

"As a child, I experienced the joys of childhood activities, family fun and the gifts of the T.P. during the summers of '72, '74-'77. The memories I held came flooding back as I pulled into Old Dock Road 30 years later with my family. The Tyler Place "happens" to you through the efforts of an amazing staff, the motivating energies (and history) of the Tyler family striving to create lifelong memories, and the serenity of rural Vermont and Lake Champlain. It worked again for me with my family and how wonderful that felt! As we were reluctantly leaving on that last Saturday morning - soaking in last scenes of the boat dock - my daughter started crying because she didn't want to leave. I told her that I cried 30 years ago too. "They're good tears - they simply mean you had a wonderful time. We'll be back someday." Maybe she'll bring her family - and the generation cycles continue. Thank you." -C & J, Waynesburg, PA, Mallard, 7/01-7/08. 2006

"This was our first year and we LOVED it! The staff in particular was wonderful. Everyone from the housekeeping staff to the dining room, kids programs, recreation and Tyler family was really fantastic and polite and friendly, efficient and generally just a pleasure to be around. You do a fantastic job of taking care of all the details so that we could relax and enjoy ourselves completely. Thank you." -C & P, Alexandria, VA, Woodduck, 6/24-7/01. 2006

"Chad was a superb host - he went out of his way to introduce us to other guests on the first night. He genuinely cares about us all having a great experience. It's remarkable how well you've anticipated our needs and wants - you thought of everything." -B & H, Gaithersburg, MD, Inn #101, 9/02-9/09. 2006

"We loved the spa cuisine. Nature Dave is awesome. We went on the nature hike, family fishing and kayak trip with him. He is a treasure. Dave and Megan of adult events were so nice to be with and they do a great job. John at the night desk went out of his way to help me. One night at 1:00 a.m. I was having leg cramps from low potassium and I needed a banana. I walked to the Front Desk and John went down to the kitchen and searched until he found one. You have an amazing staff of kind, professional people. We enjoyed meeting Ted, Pixley and Chad." -W & J, Louisville, KY, Inn #7-8, 7/21-7/28. 2007

"The Tyler Place has mastered the recipe for the perfect family vacation. If you are looking for a place to go where you don't have to cook, but want amazing food every day - where you don't have to clean, but come back to clean accommodations everyday; where you don't want to plan; but you have at least 30 activities to choose from everyday - look no further. Add to that, the amazing people you meet and the Tyler family and staff and you can't go wrong by choosing Tyler Place as your family vacation. We can't wait to return next year!" -D & S, Ellicott City, MD, Park, 7/01-7/08. 2006

"We always enjoy our stay - 6 years now - and I offered my kids the chance to go to Costa Rica next summer instead. Within 24 hours of being back, each said they would prefer to return to T.P. than go to Costa Rica. That says a lot. They like seeing the other returning guests, their independence, the activities. I think it is very nice that there are so many Tyler family members - this does make T.P. feel different than other resorts or travel options." -T & K, Montclair, NJ, Kingfisher, 8/25-9/01. 2007
