At the boat dock, Pete (the relatively new addition from South Africa) was especially good. He was very helpful to my husband with sailing advice, and also really excellent with the kids when driving the bumper tube (one of our sons was very afraid and Pete made him feel confident enough to try it). He was also a good host for our sunset cruise -- very polite, funny and helpful. In general, the boat staff was very good this year -- really helpful and pleasant. It's heaven for kids -- pools, banana boats, trampoline, movies, indoor and outdoor pools - everything you can think of - and the hours between 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. are spent with kids their own age, supervised by staff. I wanted to pass along a conversation our family had late this summer. We were recapping the summers activities with our son. You may have seen the TV ads for Six Flags Amusement Parks; they present boring things you could be doing (which are rated "one flag" or "two flags)), then contrast them with the park (Six Flags more fun!). The Tyler Place exceeded our already high expectations. This was the first trip with our kids that we could call a vacation. My husband and I were able to spend some great quality time together and partake in the fun activities, like kayaking, canoeing, biking and tennis, which we usually can't do because we have two young kids (4-1/2 and 2). We were afraid that our 4-year-old son would complain about being left during the day (we can never get him to go to the kids program at resorts), but he loved group so much that he kept asking when he could go back. For a kid who complains every morning that he doesn't want to go to school, this was incredible. The counselors were even better than Club Med & Ixtapa by far. The food is way too good. This is one of the only places that you'll have a great week, rain or shine. We'll be back for sure and can't wait to do archery, skeet shooting, yoga, tennis camp, rock wall and all the nighttime activities because the babysitter service is excellent.
