Guest Comments for 2006
Appreciate the new sun porch and slides at the pool. Once again, you've provided us with a vacation that the whole family enjoys. Our kids are ready to move here for good. ” — D & A, Washington, DC, Week of July 29, 2006, Carriage House III
As in 2005, our first year - Tyler Place offers our family the most wonderful combination of family time, couple time, individual time. The activities are outstanding, as is the staff, food and environment. We will be returning for many years to come. ” — C & B, Larchmont, NY, Week of August 12, 2006, Elmwood West
As the parents of 15-month old twins, we thought it was impossible to have a fun and relaxing vacation. Boy, oh boy, were we wrong. The Tyler Place fully understands both what parents and what kids want out of a vacation - and then they deliver with fun activities, great food and the best staff. We can't wait to come back next year. ” — B & J, Meriden, CT, Week of September 2, 2006
Counselors in the children's programs always seemed caring and attentive. It made our kids feel comfortable and welcome going to their group every day. Thanks for upgrades to the property: sun porch, new slides at the pool. ” — K & H, New York, NY, Week of July 29, 2006, Inn #1
Each year gets better. This is our third year and the opportunity to see old friends and play all day is the best. Our shy 11-year old has blossomed this summer from a computer lovin' kid to a mountain biker and rowdy extrovert with his gang of friends from the past two summers. Unbelievable! ” — M & J, Wayland, MA, Week of August 12, 2006, Butternut
For our 2nd year the stay at The Tyler Place was just as good - despite the rain. Our son said he wants to come back until he is a teenager! We agree with him! It's the best place - see you in 2007! ” — B & K, Centreville, VA, Week of June 24, 2006, Inn #4
Great all around family experience. Chad, Ted, Quintin, Pixley, etc. are all very welcoming and almost like visiting family. ” — P & P, Hingham, MA, Week of May 26, 2006, Butternut
Great day trips; great massage therapists; fun bonfire, fun riding bike around; beautiful lake and scenery; loved swimming in the lake; great food. ” — T., Albuquerque, NY, Week of June 17, 2006, Inn #3
Great guests, weather, staff, activities, food and beyond. Really just a lovely get-away! ” — M & C, Concord, MA, Week of May 1, 2006
I like the new 'water park' by the pool. The card tricks guy was fantastic! Carmen Brook Farm was a very nice tour. ” — H & A, New York, NY, Week of August 5, 2006, Butternut
I selected Tyler Place because it offered so many of the activities my husband and I enjoyed before we had children - mountain biking, tennis, hiking. The difficult part was choosing which activities to sign up for the following day. ” — J & J, Euclid, OH, Week of June 10, 2006, Inn #104
I think you really think about families with small children. Every detail is thought about. We had a diaper pail, gates, nightlights, outlet covers and even good bedding for the young child. The children are really kept busy with many activities. The Toddler program lets even the young enjoy new experiences. We liked that there are enough bikes for all and at the pool there were water tubes, noodles and rafts. ” — K & M, Hillsborough, NJ, Week of July 8, 2006, Ferncroft B
Once again, the best week of our year! Our 3-year old wants to stay for '100 days' and our 5-year old has decided to live here. We tried lots of new activities this year but still haven't come close to doing all that The Tyler Place has to offer. We'll be back again next year. ” — V & J, Vienna, VA, Week of May 26, 2006, Stork
Our family has come to The Tyler Place for many years and we always love our stay. This year we experienced some mishaps. First our daughter became quite ill and the Front Desk staff rallied. They got me an immediate appointment w/pediatricians, gave me medical supplies and provided us with babysitters as needed. Having a sick child on vacation is a bummer, but Tyler Place made it as hassle-free as possible. Second, we locked our keys in the car. Maintenance managed to get them out while we ate a leisurely breakfast. Now these things add up to a great vacation. ” — G & P, Niskayuna, NY, Week of August 12, 2006, Champlain
Our last visit was 30 years ago when we thought that the Tyler Place was as near to perfect as it could be. What a surprise to discover the taste and imagination had made it even more Edenic while preserving the format that makes it unique. The upkeep and variety of facilities are wonderful, while the beauty that surrounds one makes it tempting to just sit and take it in. And the smiling, thoughtful staff tops it all off. ” — G & D, Manhasset, NY, Week of July 1, 2006
Since this is our 5th year we knew The Tyler Place was great for small children and toddlers. But now that we have a pre-teen and senior we think that T.P. is even better. We can allow "big kids" so many more freedoms and autonomy than we can at home - they absolutely blossom and stretch themselves here. Hanging at the Inn. Riding bikes to Martin's Store. Pick up games of volleyball and soccer. Thank you, Tylers, for giving our kids a little taste of what our childhood was like. In this day of structure and schedules and "playdates", weeks like this are truly a treasure. ” — J & A, McLean, VA, Week of August 12, 2006, Woodcrest
The most surprising thing to us was how much our 22 month old son matured throughout the week. While he had a tough time leaving us the first few days, he really began bonding with the counselors and his fellow Sr. Toddlers by the end of the week and we saw a noticeable improvement in his vocabulary & social skills. ” — M & S, Santa Monica, CA, Week of September 2, 2006, Inn #7-8

The Tyler Place is a beautiful, relaxing Mecca for families. We spent quality time with our child, one another and ourselves. The toddler activities and staff exceeded our high expectations. The meals were a wonderful dining experience. It was an excellent family vacation. ” — S & H, Roslindale, MA, Week of June 24, 2006, Ferncroft C
There are so many things that we enjoyed about Tyler Place – everything here was exceptionally well done. The daytime activities were run in a very high quality fashion & there was certainly tremendous variety in terms of type & level of activities offered. The staff & outside people involved in the activities were all warm, friendly & more than easily approachable. The food was exceptionally good. As a very health-conscious eater, I was very impressed with your offerings of vegetarian choices, wholegrain breads, etc. at ever meal. This made a significant difference for me! The kids had an amazing vacation and we had several milestones this week. Our youngest lost his first tooth here & got up on water-skis for the first time! The counselors were great with the kids and were very polite to parents, as well. All of us had an exciting and very special week for our first visit to Tyler Place. Our middle son said This was our best vacation ever, much better than Disney!" Thanks for a wonderful week! ” — D & S, Wyckoff, NJ, Week of September 2, 2006
This is our 5th time at Tyler Place and we enjoy it more each year. It's a stress-free vacation for everyone and the only thing to worry about is which activity to pick. We appreciate the balance of family and couple time, the gracious and thoughtful staff and the ability to decompress in a truly beautiful setting. ” — A & L, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands, Week of August 5, 2006, Franklin House I
This is our first year, but our second stay of the season! We came in the beginning of June and loved it so much that we put ourselves on the Waiting List and canceled our Cancun vacation to come back! The activities, staff, location, food and childcare truly cannot be found anywhere else. We look forward to many more weeks at Tyler Place and will be dreaming of it all winter long. ” — F & J, Newton, MA, Week of July 22, 2006, Carriage House III
This was our first visit to The Tyler Place and the entire family loved it. Our children (9 & 6) loved the independence of riding their bikes to the kids' programs. We all made some wonderful new friends and look forward to future visits. My husband and I learned some new things (skeet shooting) and rekindled some old passions (tennis). It was a fulfilling vacation for all. ” — D & A, Oak Hill, VA, Week of July 22, 2006, Inn #7-8
This was our first year at Tyler Place and we had a wonderful time. Our children (11, 8 and 6) all got to try new activities that they now love - such as archery, kayaking and bumper tubing. My husband and I enjoyed a quick trip to Montreal, antiquing, nature walks and much more. Thank you for your excellent staff, facilities, food & even great weather! ” — S & R, McLean, VA, Week of June 23, 2006, Goose
Very well thought out, excellent management. A quality product which offers great value for money. All the facilities were well equipped with plenty of supplies and infrastructure, which is in good condition. No 'penny-pinching' or cost cutting in evidence. ” — D & S, Hoboken, NJ, Week of September 2, 2006, Inn #2

We adults had a blast. Loved all the activities because the kids had a blast. ” — B & M, Oacula, GA, Week of May 1, 2006
We had a wonderful time even though we had some rain. I was impressed with the efforts Tyler Place made to continue activities despite the uncooperative weather. My husband is a city guy and was not sure he would be happy fishing and canoeing. He was the first one to say he wanted to come back. It is apparent that with your years of experience and input from guests, you have it all figured out. ” — S & S, Oak Hill, VA, Week of July 22, 2006, Pintail
We had yet another great year at The Tyler Place. I had some reservations about leaving our infant but am completely satisfied with the care our son had. ” — T & H, Elmwood West, 1904-01-01, FL, Week of May 26, 2006, Elmwood West
We just had a great time. We adults had time to do things we never do at home - mountain biking, painting, hiking, yoga and more - all with the best equipment and instructors. ” — D & S, Londonderry, NH, Week of July 15, 2006, Elmwood East
We just love The Tyler Place and are already looking forward to 2007. We have made some lovely friends here. Great way to kick off the new year and to end the summer. Continues to exceed our expectations. Thank you to all the Tylers and staff. ” — S & A, Tuckahoe, NY, Week of September 2, 2006, Tyler North
We like the way each of us gets what we need from T.P. - I relax, read, do yoga, work out, get a massage, do crafts. My husband golfs, canoes, bikes, runs, etc. Our daughter meets nice kids, loves her activities and has much more freedom to come and go than at home in a big city. We also get enough family time to reconnect. We like it all. ” — P & B, Phoenix, AZ, Week of August 19, 2006, Pintail
We looked forward to this week all summer and were not disappointed! We loved the community feel and the fact that you get to meet other people With similar values and interests. Our son LOVED the Playhouse playground! We loved the fact that we could do a group activity, something on our own or nothing at all. Thank you for a GREAT vacation! ” — W & S, 1904-01-01, GA, Week of September 2, 2006
When we came this year - 5th - I thought it might be our last. It won't. In some ways, this may have been our very best - not so much pressure to do anything in particular and an opportunity to solidify friendships (both adult and kids) after repeated years together. The children continue to love their programs and our daughter (now a Junior) absolutely wants to make it to Pre-Teens. Our son cherishes the freedom he has here. Nature Dave continues to absolutely amaze. Carmen Brook Farm - last visited 5 years ago - was even better now that the kids are 7 and 10. Hector was a real plus - on the nature walk at the bike shop - he should definitely come back. So as you can see, we're hooked! Thanks for another great summer. Also glad to have Circus Sam back. ” — T & K, Montclair, NJ, Week of August 26, 2006, Farmhouse Up
With our children so happy, entertained and well cared for, it is easy for us to enjoy some rare adult time together. The whole family has fun at The Tyler Place! ” — J & C, West Hartford, CT, Week of August 12, 2006, Gander
You always have a great staff of young people who have a positive attitude. The Tyler family's involvement really does make it feel like we are guests and not customers. Due to your sweating the details, this week always feels like a time break from responsibility and is very relaxing. The other guests are fun. When asked if she was having a good time, our 10-year old said, 'It is almost impossible not to have a good time at Tyler Place'. That alone is enough to keep us coming back. ” — W & M, Crofton, MD, Week of August 5, 2006, Elmwood West
